Earth Science Research gets a Boost with the Subduction Zone Observatory

Subduction zones are powerful and terribly dangerous. These massvie areas of tectonics collisions have have produced some of the largest threats to mankind. Yet, a lot of mystery still shrouds our understanding of how these subduction systems work.

Science Magazine speaks to Professor Kerry Sieh, Director of the Earth Observatory of Singapore, and other geoscience experts to find out their thoughts on the new plan for a major research project to study subduction zones.
